Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®
Like many others, cancer has slammed into me; my mom died of cancer 2 years ago, my father in-law, a beautiful friend 7 years ago, and another close friend last July. I have also had plenty of friends who are celebrating full remission. … the goal of every cancer patient. My world changed last August 2016 when I was diagnosed with a brain tumor - “ Stage 4 unmethylated Glioblastoma or GBM”. So I was faced with a decision – I could crawl into a hole and wonder “why me?” or I could face this menace “head on”. And I am so lucky to have Marianne by my side taking this journey with me because the past 6 months has been a crazy schedule of too many doctors visits, chemo treatments, MRI’s, blood tests, radiation, supplements, diet changes and not to mention plenty of emotion! I decided right from the beginning that I was facing an epic challenge day to day so why not do it on a bike in August! I am not only doing this for myself, but for the people who have been so supportive of me; Marianne, Mackenzie and Alexa, my Immediate family, great friends, as well as all the doctors and staff at BC Cancer, and Inspire Health. Each has inspired me to raise awareness about cancer through my own story. Here’s the thing, currently there is no treatment in BC or Canada for my specific type of Brain Cancer! It’s all in the trial stages. My goal is to help bring treatments to Canada so a patient in a similar condition as mine will be told we have a treatment and protocol that is available to you here in BC. So join me - either with me on your bike as part of our team “Grey Matter” Aug 26 and 27 for the “Ride to Conquer Cancer” - or in spirit by sponsoring me. Lets create HOPE for Unmethylated Glioblastoma Patient.
