AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER

Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer™

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting The Princess Margaret is a cycling journey from Toronto to Niagara Falls - a distance of over 200 km - that I’m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

Contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at The Princess Margaret, Canada’s leading cancer research hospital.

Thank you in advance for your help.

TOUGH WORK, BUT WORTH IT
In case you are following my journey, here's an update. I am finally able to ride outside, and although I thought I was fairly efficient on a bike, I came to a quick realization that 100km is not an easy task. In the past I cycled many 60km rides and although those two hours were pretty gruelling, I figured I could do more if I had to....well, I'm here to tell ya, that I was wrong! Yes, I admit, in writing nonetheless, that I was wrong. I will for sure need to get my stamina up to get up to 100km, and nevermind the fact that I have to do this two days in a row. Yikes! Enough complaining on my part, it's all for a good cause, and I hope to not let all of you that sponsored me down and finish with energy to spare. See you soon.

Cleaning The Basement
Okay, it's 2008 and I am starting my training. It's cold and snowy outside, so I can't really ride my bicycle...although some extremists tell me that they ride all year long with a tuque and 10 layers of clothes..not my thing. So it was time to make room in the basement to set up my bike to this training device that I bought. The device lets you hook up your regular bike to it, lifts your back tire up on a resistence wheel and you can ride, stationary, as if you were outside. Although I have to stare at the furnace instead of the hills and trees of the beautiful Cambridge country roads...but it's good enough for now. Gotta get my cardio back up to snuff after the months of drinking and eating chicken wings and french fries. More to come..

About Me & Why
Hey.
If you know me, you might be aware that I am a big fan of cycling and that in the summer I try to consistently ride 30km, 2 to 3 times per week plus 60km on the weekend. My average speed is usually 30km/hr, which isn't great, but hey, I just started 2 years ago and there are alot of hills in my neighborhood.
If you know me, you might also be aware that I usually don't participate in many organized activities or social gatherings...for the most part, unless there's alcohol involved! But when I heard that there was going to be a Ride To Conquer Cancer from Toronto to Niagara Falls (200km), I thought, this is something I can do and I should finally contribute something to this world.
That being said, you should know that this isn't really like me to ask, so since I AM ASKING, you might want to indulge me for a second and consider my plea.
As life goes on, we soon realize that Cancer will affect us all in some way or another...even if it's just by going to the doctor and having to get that incredibly uncomfortable prostate exam. I think that's a basic statement that we've all heard before (prostate exam excluded). And although you might feel like your contribution to this won't really change things, I am telling you that I actually think it will. You see, as a collective group, this Ride to Conquer Cancer will greatly improve our chances by raising funds to support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at The Princess Margaret, Canada's leading cancer research hospital. Yes I know, it won't solve the prostate exam situation, but (no pun intended) at the end of the day, it's those other things that really matter, and I'm hoping that you will think so too. Any contribution will do (insert begging dialogue here) and I promise to ride my butt off!
