Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer™
I am proud and grateful to have had the opportunity to compete for Canada in the Paralympics in 1980. These days I am a singer- songwriter, a professional speaker, and a lover of life. I lost both my eyes to retinoblastoma, a hereditary cancer, at the age of two: my son, Jeff, brothers, Tony and Chris, and sister, Lisa, all lost one of their eyes to retinoblastoma, as well. I have been inspired to participate in The Ride To Conquer Cancer by the courage and tenacity of Joe Finley, the founder of Joe's Team. To me, Joe is the quintessential example of selflessness, hope and optimism. He has inspired hundreds of others to believe that research is a path to the cure. I have personally realized the fruits of fundraising for cancer research: my niece and nephew, Christopher and Laura, have been spared the loss of their eyes after researchers developed a laser treatment to permanently stop the retinoblastoma.
As Tim Tremain and I pedal our tandem over the two hundred kilometre course, my family, millions of other Canadians and I will be thanking you for your financial contribution, that will insure the continuation of cancer research, and the break-throughs that are sure to come, like the one that saved Christopher's and Laura's eyes. Sincerely Terry Kelly
