AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER

The ride is over - "we" did it.  With your help I was able to carry a torch across the finish line in Niagara Falls.  Thank you for all for being part of the team.  Together we have moved the "chains" toward the time that we conquer cancer.  I've already signed up for the 2013 ride and I'm recruiting new riders as well.

The team I rode with raised over $700,000 and the Ride itself raised over $18m this year!

Thank you to everyone that has supported me on this endeavour - I really do appreciate all the help that I've received.

Please Support My Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer?

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting The Princess Margaret, is a cycling journey from Toronto to Niagara Falls that I'm embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

I've watched my wife, for the past 4 years, participate in the Weekend to End Women's Cancers.  Each year I've met her at the finishing area and each year I've witnessed something touching - always different; sometimes courageous and sometimes emotional.  I've seen signs in memory of someone special, grown men in tears as they watch their 'survivor' partner completing her first walk post diagnosis (sometimes mid treatment) and I'll never forget the man I saw completing the walk holding a pair of womens running shoes high toward the sky.

What I've seen is surely just the tip of the cancer iceberg but it has motivated me to get more involved.  Then there's the odds ... 2 of every 5 people will at some point have their own personal battle with some form of cancer.  So, I'm doing this ride out of respect for those that have a much tougher challenge ahead of them and with the hope that my effort coupled with your support will make the difference.

Please contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at The Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.  All contributions to my ride will be directed to activities in support of finding a cure for childhood cancers.

Thank you in advance for your help and please stay tuned to this site as I will be updating it frequently.

The Becel ride was a great ride - 75kms up and down the DVP.
The rain held off and with cool tempuratures is wasn't a bad day for riding.
Now its time to carbo load all week in preparation for the RTCC next weekend.
Thanks again to all for your support. I've already signed up for the 2013 ride ... :)

Tara is one of the people that is riding with the team I belong to - Steve's Cycle Paths - in the RTCC. Tara is 25 and just completed chemo for cancer and was yesterday she was told that her cancer is in remission.
The following video is her dancing while receiving her last chemo treatment. I'm riding because I'd like to see more people dancing like this.
