Support My Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer™
UPDATE: On March 10, I rang the Bravey Bell in the chemo daycare to signify the end of my treatment. It was an amazing moment and I am so ready to move on with my life. I am incredibly grateful for all the love and support I am receiving. It fuels my positive outlook every day. Now it is time to buy a bike and start training! xo
Being diagnosed with stage 3 uterine cancer in July 2015 at age 40 was life altering, to say the least.
Cancer treatment is no joke. It is a physical and mental nightmare that doesn’t seem to end. Yet, in some weird way, I have never felt more alive, more present, more grateful, more full of life and more excited for the future. That’s why, after 8 months of treatment including surgery, 6 rounds of chemotherapy and 6 weeks of daily radiation, I am going to bike 220km to raise money to help fund the cure.
My team, the Uteriders (name props: Jerry McGrath), are riding with me because they care about the health of lady parts as much as I do and/or they have been impacted by cancer in their own lives. The goal of riding with these amazing friends and family on June 11 and 12 is giving me much needed strength and positivity as I head into my last 3 chemo sessions and then move onto the terrifying phase of hoping it doesn’t come back.
I want to raise a lot of money. Bruce and I are seeding the Uteriders with a $10,000 donation. We want to help find a cure so that eventually no families will have to go through what we are going through. Funds raised in The Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care at Princess Margaret, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.
I am riding to celebrate the end of my treatment.
I am riding for Bruce, Alexa and Jacqueline.
I am riding for my parents, Nancy and Trevor, my sister Karen and my entire family.
I am riding because I PLAN TO LIVE.
Cancer touches everyone. Please donate generously or join my team (email me! firstname.lastname@example.org). For me, my kids, my husband, my parents, for you, your kids and loved ones. For everyone.
