AN EPIC RIDE TO CONQUER CANCER

Support My Ride to Conquer Cancer®

Welcome to my Personal Page! The Ride to Conquer Cancer benefiting Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (http://www.fhcrc.org), is a two-day cycling journey, from Vancouver to Seattle that I’m embarking on to fight cancer. It will be a challenge in a number of ways, but with my bike, my helmet, and your generosity, a real impact will be made!

Please contribute to this history-making event with a donation. Funds raised in The Ride to Conquer Cancer will support breakthrough research, exemplary teaching, and compassionate care made possible through Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center, a leader in cancer research and care.

Couple of things to remember:
1. Donations are in Canadian funds. So, if you live in U.S., you might consider bumping up your donation.
2. Many companies offer matching gift programs. Please take advantage of this it if it's available to you to make your donation count that much more.

Thank you in advance for your help. Any amount, no matter how small is appreciated!

Thanks again for your help.

We rode 168 miles!!!!
what a great trip! Thanks again to all the donors and those who supported us. 6.9 million dollars has been raised! The route was awsome with spectacular views and few hills considering the ditance. Yes I didn't think there were few hills while on them but everytime we recovered quickly and kept going.
Did I mention the volunteer staff? They were fun and ENCOURAGING but that wouldn't mean squat if they weren't also taking care of business at every turn! (liturally). You guys were an inspiration.
As for me I am wrecked! (looking forward to next year) I have no idea how I made it through the day today. Sure 85 miles yesterday ok yea I'll be sore but then to wake up and do another 85 miles? Thats madness! Oh yeah and it hailed on us. Me without glasses doing 20+ mph (down hill) it was blinding. Rode for another hour before I could see clearly.
Then before you know it, it was over.
So here I sit wondering what have I done?

Ride ride ride
Sunday we went 53 miles! Twice the distance of our last longest ride. It ended with 3 or so miles up hill . Ouch. At the 40 mile mark the pains started to creep in, wrists, shoulders bum.
It was my first ride with clipless peddles which helped alot. Strange feeling to be attached to the bike like that. Towards the end when we stopped at a cross all exhaused I didn't unclip quick enough so sitting there stopped I slowly fell over. Nancy thought I had a stroke.

Samammish is Indian for...
Bugs in face.
Anyway good ride tonight with nice views and a clove smell from somewhere that was nice. Started off from the State Park and went 7 miles then turned around for a total of 14. My front wheel was all loose and wobbly and when I tried to tighten it it would get all stiff so I found a happy medium and went with it. Better figure this out before the big ride. Thanks for checking in and remember any size donation is awesome. Just %35 left to go!!!

Back in the saddle again...
After being sick all weekend I finaly got in 12 miles last night. I know it's not a lot but still good to get in after work and be back home before the kids feel totaly neglected. We rode on a main street and we both got pretty frustrated with the frequent stops. we had a top speed of 20 mph, but the average speed ended up to be 8.3mph. hmmm..

this is great!!
unbelievable. We biked 10+ miles with a bunch of hills. I never thought I'd do those hills. I mean what for, right? But since we're training it makes sense and a couple of times it was tough but we recovered really quickly and were ready for the next one. Thanks for checking the site and I'll try to update more often.

5/30
We did 25 miles in 2:10! Average speed of 11.4 mph. Nancy got new tires and never broke a sweat so I had to sweat for her. My eyes sting a little. After that I hooked up the trailer and took Bryan out for a few miles then when I got home went back out with Nancy and Jonathan to return movies. I'm starting to think we really can do this. Tomorrow she wants to do another 20 or so.
Thanks for checking out the site and remember any size donation really is a big help.
Now I'm going to rest a little....

They're much more comfortable than I thought they would be. I'll test'em tonight. Really hope they work. Other than that feeling great. Odometer readings coming soon keep checking back...

Getting started
Thanks for looking at my site. Only 3 short weeks left and I'm just getting started. Got my bike this Tuesday and was able to get in 5 or so miles last night. I think I might get a different seat (ouch). Tonight the plan is 7 miles. I probably need to get a light.
