Karin's Ride to Conquer Cancer

I am one of the lucky ones. My immediate family has not suffered tragedy because of cancer, but we have been affected. In her late forties, my mom had a large melanoma on her back. She was so brave that I had no idea how serious her cancer was until years later. The melanoma was successfully removed and my mom has continued to live life to the fullest.
My Aunty Elaine, the most giving person you could know, was just as brave but not as fortunate. Initially diagnosed with tongue cancer, it later metastasized and my aunt died far, far too young.
There are of course many other people in my circle of friends, family and colleagues, who have battled with cancer. We have all been touched by this disease.
I am doing this ride for everyone who has been affected by cancer. It’s something I can do. Near the beginning of every school year we show our students the film about Terry Fox. I haven’t made it through dry-eyed yet. But this coming September I can remember that I did this one small thing. I know you are all doing lots of small and big things to help with many important causes. If you are able to help me with this one, I would very much appreciate it.
