The 2018 Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer
March 28, 2018: As of today, your donations through me are $15,013.13. The ride continues ...
The prospect of completing this challenge is daunting - 200 kilometers over 2 days along the Rocky Mountains. Every rider must ask themselves whether they believe they have the perseverance and dedication to finish the course. However, the courage and determination to complete this challenge pales in comparison to the courage and determination needed to fight cancer. I know. I am a cancer survivor and I'm going to survive again.
But I am not just riding for myself. I am riding for everyone - those experiencing cancer, those who have experienced cancer, those who have been affected by cancer in someone they love, and the medical practitioners and researchers striving to find a cure. Cancer affects us all. Together we can make a difference. Every donation will have an impact. We will find a cure!
On June 25-26, 2011, my bike and I learned that difficult challenges can be conquered. We learned that support comes in many phenomenal ways; most of them very emotional.
On June 23-24, 2012, my bike and I learned that a longer route is possible to conquer faster and that poor conditions don't always reduce your spirit.
On the flood days leading up to and the weeks and months following June 22-23, 2013, I remembered there are always people that need volunteers. The Ride was postponed to August 10-11, 2013.
On August 9-10, 2014, my bike and I learned that having a team that supports and motivates each other is the same as receiving support and motivation when it is needed the most.
On August 8-9, 2015, my bike and I learned that riding for the 5th year with great team is something to strive for.
On August 16-17, 2016, my bike and I learned that riding for the 6th year means that you can beat a goal! Team 4 All beat our fundraising goal of $32,013.16 to $36,814 and the more that gets donated means more for cancer research!
On August 12-13, 2017, my bike and I learned that riding for the 7th year there are people that fix 2 tires, a bent front chainring AND we finished The Ride! Team 4 All raised $47,220: the biggest Community Challenge 2 years in a row!
Let's continue to support the challenge. Let's conquer cancer before it affects someone we love.
Thank you for supporting the Alberta Cancer Foundation and cancer research through me on The 2018 Ride to Conquer Cancer.
