Harbour Air Seaplanes
All of you who know me know that I have been an avid cyclist for a couple of decades, I ride for me, this is my passion. On the last weekend in August I am riding for a cause, beating Cancer. I will participate in the Ride to Conquer Cancer as part of a team made up of friends and riders from Harbour Air. This is my way to give of myself to continue to bring awareness and to help raise money for research and advance treatments for cancer patients.
I have watched friends and associates battle this indiscriminate and cruel affliction and have wondered what I could do to help, virtually all of us have been affected in one way or another by this disease. My personal experiences pale, compared to the struggles of many of my friends, associates and colleagues. The advances in research and the therapies that have developed from them are very promising and some of the most important are from researchers right here in BC funded by the BC Cancer Foundation. They are saving lives and giving hope to even the most seriously afflicted.
None of this comes cheap, as one researcher told me, the money donated is the "jet fuel" that propels them toward the answers and they need more of it! By donating to our ride, you will be providing funds for at least one clinical trial in BC for a very promising new therapy which is currently only available in Germany. This treatment is nicknamed "Daryl's Heidelberg Hope" by Daryl Clark and his friends. Sadly, Daryl passed away on June 17, 2017 at the age of 59 before this treatment could help him. It was simply too late.
I am reaching out to you to ask you to sponsor me and my team in this ride. You don’t have to get on a bike, you don’t have to wear a helmet or remember to fill your water bottles to donate (although if you’d like to ride we’d love to have you join us!). Just click on the donate button and know you are a part of this team. Please forward my message to your friends, your family, your business associates along with your note encouraging them to give. Please remember that no amount is too small!
Life is sometimes way too short, please enjoy every minute.
