Hi Friends,

My introduction to cancer came at age 10 when my mother was diagnosed with breast cancer.  At the time, I was too young to comprehend the dramatic impact this devastating disease could have on my family.  Following aggressive surgery and months of treatment, my mom was cancer "free".  She was lucky, unfortunately other friends and family haven't been.

Like me, I'm sure you have had loved ones afflicted with the hardships that cancer brings.  It is because of their suffering that I have chosen to take on the Enbridge Ride to Conquer Cancer. The Ride is a two day, 200 kilometer cycling journey from Vancouver to Seattle.  This challenging ride through the Pacific Northwest will be the culmination of many months of fundraising and training. My teammates and I, the Rain City Riders, have pledged to raise $7500 in support of much needed cancer research. I, personally, have committed to raising $2500 for the British Columbia Cancer Foundation.  With your help, we can achieve or exceed our goal.

As a researcher, I understand many of the challenges standing in the way of scientific breakthroughs. I appreciate the difference that financial donations can make to support the fight against cancer, and I hope you can too.  Making a donation is as simple as clicking the icon below to my Conquer Cancer profile.  There, you can make an online donation by following the green "Donate Now" link or obtain a donation form to mail.  This site will also allow you to track my fundraising and training updates.

Over the next few months, our team will be hosting fundraising events and we would love to have your support.

Please feel free to contact me if you need any assistance in the donation process, would like further information on the Ride, or if you have any suggestions to help us in our fundraising efforts!

Thank you,

Tyler Graham Prindle Lewis (August 13th, 1986 - December 9th, 2012)

It's with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Rain City Riders founding teammate, Tyler Lewis. He was a close friend, mentor, partner, son and an amazing human being and he will be greatly missed. For those of you who never had the pleasure of meeting Tyler, he helped start the Rain City Riders last year, in hopes that the Ride would be an annual event for the team. Although the ride is, and always will be our way of contributing to those we love affected by cancer, the Ride and the Rain City Riders has now become much more than that to us - this ride is now a tribute to our good friend Tyler.

Since Tyler's passing, the Rain City Riders has grown in size. Now joining us on the Ride will be Tyler's parents, Graham and Lynn, partner Dawn, and best friend Eric. It was their wish to participate in the Ride with us this year, as they knew how important this event was for Tyler. Although it is under these tragic circumstances that our Team has grown, we are very happy to have Tyler's family and close friends join the Rain City Riders.

It will be Tyler's mother Lynn who will be riding and fundraising under Tyler's name and profile. Please check back to this page, as there will be updates to future fundraising events. Please also visit Graham and Dawn's pages and donate to their Ride to Conquer Cancer, and ride to tribute our friend Tyler.

Thank you.
